Poetry: Precious memories

Their eyes met and she saw that first look
One undeniable hug was all it took
A bond grew quickly and feelings grew strong
They knew from the start it couldn't last long

The time was short but was time so sweet
She savored the rare moments they could meet
Alas too many obstacles stood in their way
The longing had to end, she could not stay

He said the only thing constant is change
With those words was their last exchange
Clutching those words she knew she had to leave
As they hugged her tears trickled down his sleeve

She cried and prepared to leave all that was good
Things ended that night as she always knew it would
As she turned away to leave him behind
A last "I love you" flowed through their minds

Connection so powerful despite time so brief
She buried those feelings deep underneath
Every so often she sees the moon beam
And sometimes wonders if it was real or a dream

Years have passed and as her hair goes gray
She still remembers that one fateful day
Her sadness had faded as years went by
Precious memories remain but no tears left to cry

Poetry: New Year's Eve

On this eve the old year ends and
tomorrow a new one comes
A night to have fun with those dear
family, friends and close chums

Room is pulsed with energy
all await the stroke of midnight
When it arrives all will cheer with
hugs, kisses, dances and delight

In the 'morrow there will be
chance for a new path to walk
New Beginnings and rebirth
take action, don't just talk

Another year is over
Yesterday's come to an end
New Year, fresh start, a blank slate
Old mistakes a chance to amend

Poetry: Dreaming of You

I dreamed of you again last night
It caught me so off guard
Awakened me with such a fright
Feeling confused and marred

Images conjured in the mind
Of a place so far away
Timeline mixed up, stars not aligned
Confusion leads astray

In my dreams I keep seeing you
At a place that doesn't exist
Sky is foggy, grass full of dew
You are floating in the mist
tree in fog

Through the fog you seemed so clear
Yet standing far away
Despite distance you felt so near
Amidst those clouds all gray

Tried to reach you to say a word
But then you disappeared
Though I shouted you had not heard
Suddenly you reappeared

Reached for your hand to help me through
Then your likeness promptly faded
Your wings sprouted and then you flew
Visions became more jaded

Swiftly I awake with a start
The dream abruptly ends
Wakeful with thoughts dear to the heart
And hoping someday the heart mends

Poetry - Wild and free

All her life she felt trapped
Wanting liberation
Always just out of reach
A desired salvation

Released from the shackles
Feeling free as a bird

All ready to embrace life
Her past started to blur

First she ran to the playground
Swung high up on the swings
Danced around a grassy field
Finally free to spread her wings

A chance to start life over
Fresh beginning and new start
Time to live life to the fullest
Her old life she can depart

Her happiness to be found
By living wild and free
For the first time in her life
She's free to be who she wants to be

Poetry: Jigsaw puzzles

Jigsaw pieces match precise
naturally and close-knit
You know a combo is exact
when two pieces make a fit

In a full jigsaw puzzle
many pieces do belong
When placement shows a fit is right
sometimes appears to look all wrong

Now and then jigsaws don't work
even though pieces do connect
When foundation is not matched
final structure not correct

How can two pieces attach
together and look so snug?
When pattern is unsuited
despite the well formed hug?

The ideal jigsaw puzzle
is the one that connects tight
The pattern truly matches
and you see the image bright

Relationships are like jigsaws
when the parts all firmly connect
An innate pull of each piece
completes your puzzle perfect

Poetry: Masks

Masked deception

Masks are ways
To hide underneath
One's true being
Concealed by sheath

Masks hide reality
Emotions hidden
Eyes covered over
Can cloak deception

Masks may also be ways
To protect or to hide
As taking them off
Bares what is inside
Removing a mask

To see what's behind
Set to flow freely
No longer confined
Open and honest

No longer mysterious
Mask's spirit liberated
Exposed and less serious

Poetry: Sunsets

As the day settles down
And readies for some rest
Sun's radiant colors
Stream brightly on the crest

A brilliant splash of colors
Pours out across the sky
Deep reds, pinks and orange
Clings tightly, evading night

Sun casts vivacity
Lighting up the skies
Breathtaking moments
Never lacking of surprise

Eventually sun must sleep
Shadows envelope the sun
Nighttime slumber settles in
And sunset's performance is done

While darkness wins the clash
Each and every instance
Tomorrow is a new day
Sun will again have its chance
